Gertrude Darke: My cats have a ton of toys, some store bought, some homemade. Their absolute favorite toys are plastic bottle caps. I find them all over the house. They also love cardboard boxes & paper bags to hide in.Gypsy's favorite store toy is a teenie beanie baby duck. She carries it all over the house. Cinnamon's favorite is a pink plastic ball with a bell in it. She carries it all over the house & will occashionally play fetch with it....Show more
Omar Phipps: the balls with bells inside r good so r the mice with cat nip and string
Efren Clankscales: A small ball amuses them to no end. Toss it into the apartment before you open the door to leave and they will always go after it...A string is fun when they are kittens but they soon grow out of that.. I agree with the above, a milk cap amuses them to no end, and drives the rest of us crazy.
Ronnie Barcus: You don't have to spend a lot to amuse your cat. The best thing you can give them is time an! d attention. cat toys are much more fun when you're using them to interact with your kitty. My cats are particulary fond of ping pong balls- the slightest tap sends them bouncing and flying all over the place. You can make your own with rolled up tin foil. Cat nip is a good treat- I made a cat nip soft toy out of an old foot sock- filled it with catnip and sewed it closed- I dont think the cats care if it's shaped like a mouse- as long as its light enough to bat around.I do recommend the feathers on a stick toy, my cats love it, but it gets locked up in a wardrobe when I'm out of the house- or they would demolish it- but when it comes out, its a special treat they'll never get bored of. I also play wiht them using a laser pen on special occasions- you have to be very careful not to shine it in their eyes, which i am.... i find if you make it dance up and down a wall, the cat with jump and try to catch it, while having their back to you, which is safer. Also, a simple cardb! ox holds huge facination with some cats. I have one which i cu! t holes in the sides and when the cat is in it, I can poke things like the feather stick for her to attack- but a pencil is just as good, or string. I wouldnt leave string toys lying aroung for them while you're out though. Just watch your cat as you will prob find they are naturally amused by random everyday items. One of mine is obsessed with pencils/pens and likes to hide them under the rug in the living room (At least I can now always find a pen when i need one)I also have a dvd called Kitty Goes Hunting and Fishing, which i put on for them (about £12)- they ADORE it. It just features footage of mice/birds/ spiders. They sit quiet watching like theyre at a cinema (i'm not kidding) but I find taping those Comedy Home Movie programmes that feature animal antics- or even some nature videos you can tape from tv are also wildly amusing to them.Happy play time with your cats and have fun!...Show more
Wally Gower: I agree with marshmellows (the big ones, not minis),. bu! t not anything tin foil, nor with elastics or twist ties parts attached.Cats get over playful and will swallow if broken off.Sometimes the BEST toys are free,.. NOT the commercialized products. My MANY cats LOVE empty big brown paper bags, empty odd shaped large boxes turned sideways or just a large feather tied to their cat tower. All safe and full of entertainment for them!!!Gd. luck....Show more
Alonso Crehan: Before you spend a ton of money on toys:1. Get to know your cat. How does it like to play? What type of toy would complement that play?2. Is your cat a string eater? If it is, you have to avoid anything stringy unless you keep it out of reach and use it only for supervised play sessions. Short strings are ok, like mouse tails, but cat dancers or Fling-ama-String are out of the question. Just avoid anything long enough that it could twist around kitty's intestines.3. Start your cat with free stuff. The thingy off milk cartons are a big hit. Twist ties! and Q-tips are also fun. Cardboard boxes to hide in.4. Fuzzy mice ar! e inexpensive and loved by many (you don't need to worry about the tails on these unless they're very long). Balls are great and also inexpensive. And of course - anything with catnip! I like the ones that are like a burlap bag - they're great for rabbit kicking and rubbing on.That's it. I have a string eater so I have to be careful what I buy, but I don't know of any other health hazards to worry about. And I've found that the milk carton rings and fuzzy mice get the most mileage....Show more
Tyree Allenbrand: my cats personal favorite is the bird, if you bump it, it chirps like a bird, then my bird hears it, he goes nuts, the cats get confused. they also like the balls with bells in them. they really love boxes, clothes baskets (they really think they are hiding).they love catnip toys.
Ronnie Sardi: Well from experience I would not recommend the fish poles with the feather on the end of it, my cat loved it so much he pulled the feathers out, I put it awa! y because it was broken, I did not know it but he found it ate the little plastic adapter off where the feathers were and three days later he was seriously sick, I rushed him to the vet and the xray showed that little plastic adapter . Needless to say he needed a foreign body removal surgery. So in my house the only acceptable toy for my cats to play with it a crumpled up piece of notebook paper....Show more
Leif Serabia: the best toys for cats are nothing you buy.my cats have the best time playing with marshmellows, aluminum foil balls and milk caps=p go figurethe marshmellows are tere favorite. while the other one is playing the other cat comes and eat it lol...Show more
